Le Delice opens

Le Delice opened today, just as Spring arrived, in the former Mason's building close to Ladywell Station.  Early signs are promising, and free hot drinks today was a nice gesture, as was the patron's genuine concern that I enjoyed my coffee.  The place was packed for the whole of the hour I was there, with people I didn't recognise from Ladywell, so maybe Le Delice will be able to pull in punters from further afield which, if so, could be good for other local businesses.

I see that now there is rent coming in from the ground floor, the landlord has put the whole building on the market as a "Freehold Investment". Perhaps there are people within Ladywell who might put forward a "community bid"?

Just don't forget the sandwich bar across the road, folks.

From what I understand said landlord was partly responsible for Mason's going out of business. I don't see why the community should help him cash in. Perhaps we would be better off bidding on the old Snack Bar and letting it out to Ladywell Cycles who need more space. Val's point is valid worry about samey businesses diluting potential income. It's a very fine balance......
