Want to see improvements to the streetscape in Ladywell? Come and give your views...

LVIG has commissioned designers to look at possible improvements that could be made to the streetscape in Ladywell Village. After a first consultation with the local community at Ladywell train station earlier this month, the designers have produced an initial set of proposals. We'd love to hear your comments and suggestions for how the streetscape in Ladywell can be improved, as well as your thoughts on these initial ideas.

LVIG is holding a further consultation in Ladywell Fields on Sunday 16 May from 10am-1.30pm, outside the café in the northern field. We'd welcome your feedback at this event and the designers will be on hand to discuss your ideas and thoughts on the initial proposals.

LVIG will be holding further public consultations over next couple of months as the project develops. We'll keep you informed of the dates and locations of these, though if you are unable to attend and wish to have your say, please leave your comments and suggestions on this blog or email ladywell.info@googlemail.com

Good stuff, this. I think I prefer B - looks more radical, more likely to give a sense that this isn't just another high street.

Looks great. Either option would be a massive improvement on what we have now.

Difficult to tell from these pictures. Please don't do anything that creates more congestion. How about knocking everything opposite Oscars down and starting again. Apart from the dry cleaners (which is the friendliest in SE London) I wouldn't miss any of it.

I'm struggling to see what the 'improvements' are here - what benefits would traffic lights be at this junction? The crossing seems to be working perfectly OK as well. So, am I missing something? This is always going to be a busy stretch of road and narrowing the road (which does seem to be part of the options) would have a negligible benefit I would have thought.

Investigation is a good thing though!

Looks great, Plan B definitely my preferred.

In addition though, i feel what is really needed on Ladywell Road is to stop the constant flow of lorries using it as a shortcut from the south circular. Anything to make it more difficult for them to use the road would be a distinct improvement, and make the centre a more attractive place to sit outside the cafés on the proposed widened pavements. The traffic calming unfortunately didn't work.

As a resident I’m all for a facelift, plans look good on the surface, however, as a driver I feel that narrowing the roads could cause further/prolonged congestion through ladywell, although it may deter some hvgs, there will then be no option for traffic to go around buses. As for adding parking bays, traffic virtually comes to a stand still when parking bays are present in high traffic areas, although this happens anyway during rush hour, I guess it’ll just take me twice as long to make the turning home from Ivy Rd.
